FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ABBOTSFORD, BC, October 11, 2005 - Inmates at Matsqui Institution have been locked down since Saturday (October 8) to facilitate a search of the Living Unit and common areas for a missing kitchen knife and other weapons.

Regularly scheduled visits to the Institution remain suspended while the Private Family Visiting program will continue during the lock down.

Matsqui Institution is a medium security facility operated by the Correctional Service of Canada. It is located in Abbotsford and has a current population of 327 male offenders.
