AGASSIZ, BC, November 21, 2005 - A living unit housing 26 inmates at Kent Institution is locked down as a result of an inmate being stabbed Sunday evening (November 20).
Two suspects in the stabbing have been identified and both the RCMP and the institution's Security Intelligence Office are investigating the incident.
Health Services staff immediately treated the injured inmate, who was later transferred to an outside hospital where he remains under observation for non-life-threatening injuries.
No staff were injured during this incident.
Kent Institution is a federal maximum security institution located 120 kilometres east of Vancouver. The institution currently houses 238 inmates.
