FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEATH AT PACIFIC INSTITUTION

ABBOTSFORD, BC, November 25, 2005 - A 35-year-old inmate was found dead in his cell on November 24 at Pacific Institution in Abbotsford. The death was the result of an apparent suicide.

Timothy James Mann was serving a 43-month sentence for robbery, break and enter, assault, and possession of property obtained by crime. His sentence commenced on September 28, 2005.

Next-of-kin have been notified and the Abbotsford Police, BC Coroner's Service and the Correctional Service of Canada are investigating.

The Regional Treatment Centre and Pacific Institution are co-located in Abbotsford. The facility includes a 20-bed medical hospital, 96-bed psychiatric hospital, 96-bed rehabilitation unit, 127-bed program unit and a 96-bed Regional Reception and Assessment Centre.
