FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPE FROM FERNDALE INSTITUTION

MISSION, BC, April 17, 2006 - Federal offender Leslie Zahorejko was noticed missing during a 3 a.m. round at Ferndale Institution today. RCMP was notified and attended the institution.

Mr. Zahorejko is a 27-year-old Caucasian male weighing 68 Kg (150 lbs.) and standing 170 cm (5' 7" inches) tall. He has brown hair, green eyes and a fair complexion. He has a tattoo of a panther on his right shoulder and a gargoyle on his left shoulder.

He is serving a 5-year 7 month sentence for break and enter, robbery, and use of imitation weapon while committing an offence. His sentenced commenced October 24, 2003.

He was eligible for unescorted temporary absence September 27, 2004 and day parole March 2, 2005. His full parole eligibility date was September 2, 2005. His statutory release date is July 14, 2007.

Ferndale Institution is a minimum-security institution located in Mission.
