FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AGASSIZ, BC, April 27, 2006 - A group of inmates at maximum security Kent Institution in Agassiz has raised $2,500 for the Vancouver Children's Hospital.
The inmates in the institution's Unit 2 have also issued a challenge to other inmates at Kent and to inmates in other federal institutions to match or beat their donation.
"We hope the media will follow this story and report as to which of the above challenged parties have accepted the challenge, the amounts donated, the total raised, and how the Vancouver Children's Hospital plans on using the funds." said inmate spokesman, James Doherty.
"We hope, in this small way, some good will come of our initiative to the benefit of children in need of all our care."
Kent Institution is a federal maximum-security institution located 140 kilometers east of Vancouver. The institution currently houses 230 inmates.
