FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

VICTORIA, BC, July 26, 2006 - A warrant has been issued for the arrest of federal offender William Dixon who was on an unescorted temporary absence from William Head Institution. He failed to return by his curfew to the halfway house in Victoria where he was staying.

Mr. Dixon is serving a two-year sentence for three counts of theft under $5,000. His sentence commenced May 18, 2005. His statutory release date is September 16, 2006 and his sentence ends May 15, 2007.

William Head Institution is a minimum security facility operated by the Correctional Service of Canada. It is located in Metchosin, British Columbia and has a current population of 113 male offenders.
