FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEATH AT KWÌKWÈXWELHP HEALING VILLAGE

HARRISON MILLS, BC, July 31, 2006 - A 70-year-old federal inmate died at the Kwìkwèxwelhp Healing Village on July 29.

Leonard Splett was found deceased of natural causes in his room. Emergency personnel and the coroner were contacted.

Mr. Splett was a first-time federal offender, serving a life-sentence for second degree murder.

Kwìkwèxwelhp Healing Village is a federally-operated, minimum security institution located approximately 37 kms east of Mission, B.C. It currently houses 35 inmates.
