FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MISSION, BC, December 5, 2006 - A 28-year-old Mission Institution inmate died December 4 at the MSA hospital in Abbotsford.

Staff observed the inmate in distress in his cell during the evening. The death was the result of an apparent suicide.

James Schreiber was serving a sentence of eight years and nine months for robbery. His sentence commenced April 18, 2001.

Next of kin have been notified.

Mission Institution is a medium security federal facility operated by the Correctional Service of Canada. It is located just north of Mission and currently houses 265 male offenders.
