FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AGASSIZ, BC, February 05, 2007 - A Mountain Institution inmate was found dead of an apparent suicide at approximately 11:00 a.m. today.

William Dixon, 44, was found unresponsive on his bed in his living unit. Dixon was serving a life sentence commencing in 1992 for First Degree Murder.

Both the institutional Security Intelligence Office and the RCMP are investigating.

Next of kin have been notified.

Mountain Institution is a federal medium-security institution located 120 kilometers east of Vancouver. The institution currently houses 426 inmates.
