FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MISSION, BC, February 06, 2007 - Mission Institution inmates were locked in their cells February 4 to facilitate an exceptional search following an assault on an inmate. The offender was injured and remains in outside hospital.

No weapon was found during the search, and the institution returned to normal routine this morning.

Mission Institution is a medium security federal facility operated by the Correctional Service of Canada. It is located just north of Mission and currently houses 271 male offenders.
