FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AGASSIZ, BC, May 28, 2007 - A Mountain Institution inmate died of apparent natural causes during the evening of May 25.

Phillipe Clement, age 48, collapsed on the gymnasium floor. He was pronounced dead prior to leaving the institutional property. An autopsy will be performed.

Mr. Clement was serving a life sentence for second degree murder. His sentence commenced in 1978.

Next-of- kin have been notified.

Mountain Institution is a federal medium-security institution located 120 kilometers east of Vancouver. The institution currently houses 446 inmates.
