FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEATH AT PACIFIC INSTITUTION

ABBOTSFORD, BC, June 14, 2007 - A 73-year-old inmate from Pacific Institution in Abbotsford died early yesterday morning, June 13. Edward Dmytrus died of natural causes while at outside hospital. Mr. Dmytrus was serving a 23-year sentence for sexual assault, acts of gross indecency, assault causing bodily harm, and two counts of assault. His sentence commenced September 18, 1987. The Pacific Institution and the Regional Treatment Centre are co-located in Abbotsford, British Columbia. The facility includes a 20-bed Medical Hospital, 96-bed Psychiatric Hospital, 96-bed Rehabilitation Unit, 127-bed Program Unit and a 96-bed Regional Reception and Assessment Centre.
