MISSION, BC, June 16, 2007 - A federal offender escaped from minimum-security Ferndale Institution this evening.
Kelly Bedard was noticed missing during the 10 p.m. count.
He is serving a three year and seven month sentence for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and possession of property obtained by crime. His sentenced commenced March 15, 2005.
His day parole date was March 09, 2007. His full parole eligibility date is September 9, 2007. His statutory release date is February 20, 2008 with warrant expiry October 14, 2008.
Mr. Bedard is a 37-year-old Caucasian male weighing 81 Kg (179 lbs) and stands 165 cm (5' 5" inches) tall. He has shaved brown hair, brown eyes and a fair complexion.
RCMP were notified and attended the institution.
Ferndale Institution is a 166-bed minimum-security facility operated by the Correctional Service of Canada and is located in Mission.
