FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ABBOTSFORD, BC, September 27, 2007 - Fraser Valley Institution was locked down today to allow staff to conduct an exceptional search for contraband.

All regular visits and programs have been suspended until the institution returns to normal operation.

Fraser Valley Institution is a multi-level security facility operated by the Correctional Service of Canada. It is located 100 km east of Vancouver on the Matsqui Complex in Abbotsford and has a population of 61 federally sentenced female offenders.
