FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPE FROM FERNDALE INSTITUTION

MISSION, BC, November 16, 2007 - A federal offender escaped from minimum-security Ferndale Institution.

Michael Grant was noticed missing at 7:20 p.m. tonight.

He is serving a two year, four month sentence for fraud and possession of property obtained by crime. His sentence commenced November 28, 2006.

He was eligible for unescorted temporary absence and day parole May 28, 2007. His full parole eligibility date was September 7, 2007. His statutory release date is June 17, 2008.

Mr. Grant is a 25-year-old caucasian male weighing 99 Kg (219 lbs.) and stands 188 cm (6' 2" inches) tall. He has brown hair, brown eyes, and a fair complexion.

RCMP were been notified and attended the institution.

Ferndale Institution is a 166-bed minimum-security facility operated by the Correctional Service of Canada and is located in Mission.
