FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ABBOTSFORD, BC, November 15, 2007 - After an extensive search of the institution, inmates normal operations resumed today at Pacific Institution and the Regional Treatment Centre.

All inmates in the institution were locked in their cells November 15 to facilitate searching for a missing pair of scissors. Inmates in the Regional Reception and Assessment Centre were unaffected by the lockdown as they do not interact with the rest of the institution.

While the missing scissors were not located, other unauthorized items were located and seized.

The Pacific Institution and the Regional Treatment Centre are co-located in Abbotsford. The facility includes a 20-bed Medical Hospital, 96-bed Psychiatric Hospital, 96-bed Rehabilitation Unit, 127-bed Program Unit and a 108-bed Regional Reception and Assessment Centre.
