MISSION INSTITUTION LOCKDOWN ENDS

MISSION, BC, March 19, 2008 - A lockdown at Mission Institution which commenced the evening of March 14, 2008 has ended. The lockdown was in effect while an exceptional search for weapons was performed, following an altercation between inmates.

At 1:00 pm, the institution returned to its normal routine, including inmate visitation procedures.

Mission Institution is a medium security federal facility operated by the Correctional Service of Canada. It is located just north of Mission and currently houses 280 male offenders.
