FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPE FROM FERNDALE INSTITUTION

MISSION, BC, April 19, 2008 - On April 19, 2008, Blane MacDougal was reported missing from Ferndale Institution, a minimum security federal institution.

The RCMP has been notified and Correctional Services Canada will continue to work with the police in an effort to locate the offender as quickly as possible.

Blane MacDougal is serving a Life sentence since May 15, 1969 for non capital murder, escape lawful custody, indecent assault female, rape, kidnap unlawfully confine, and sexual assault with weapon. He is 1.83m (6`0) tall and weighs approximately 74 kg (164 lbs). He is balding with brown hair, brown eyes and Caucasian. He has a tattoo "dragon" on his chest and speaks English.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Mr. MacDougal is asked to contact your local police.

The Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the escape and will take action where necessary.

Ferndale Institution is a 166-bed facility located in Mission, BC.
