FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

END OF LOCKDOWN AT MISSION INSTITUTION

MISSION, BC, August 29, 2008 - The lockdown at Mission Institution, which commenced on August 25, 2008, has ended. The lockdown was in effect to facilitate a search for contraband and other unauthorized items.

Regularly scheduled visits and other planned activities have recommenced. The institution returned to its normal routine on August 29 at 8:00 a.m.

Mission Institution is a medium security federal facility operated by the Correctional Service of Canada. It is located just north of Mission and currently houses 282 male offenders.
