FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPE FROM FERNDALE INSTITUTION

Mission, (B.C), December 18, 2008 - On Thursday December 18, Federal offender Chi Wai CHAN was reported missing from Ferndale Institution.

Mr. CHAN is serving a sentence of 13 years and 6 months since February 2, 2000 for kidnapping, forcible confinement extortion and administer or cause to be administered a stupefying or overpowering drug.

The Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the escape and will take action where necessary.
