LOCKDOWN AT MISSION INSTITUTION

Mission, B.C, January 15, 2009 - Inmates at Mission Institution are locked in their cells while a search is conducted for contraband and unauthorized items.

The lockdown was initiated on January 14, 2009, in order to facilitate a search of the institution, while ensuring the continued safety and security of the public, staff and inmates.

The facility will reopen once institutional management determines that it is safe to do so. Regularly scheduled visits are cancelled.
