FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mission, BC, January 21, 2010 – At approximately 17:30 hours, January 20, staff observed inmate Josh CADOTTE off the property of Ferndale Institution.
CADOTTE was subsequently apprehended by staff and transferred to higher security. Mission RCMP was notified.
Josh CADOTTE is serving a three year six month sentence commencing July 16, 2007 for possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.
Ferndale Institution is a minimum-security federal facility operated by the Correctional Service of Canada. It is located in the district of Mission and currently houses 129 male offenders. Only those offenders who are assessed as having a low risk of public safety are placed in a minimum security Institution.
The Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the escape and will take action where necessary.
