Abbotsford, BC, June 16, 2010 - Frederick William Threlfall, an inmate from the Regional Treatment Centre, died of apparent natural causes yesterday while at outside hospital for treatment following an extended illness.
Mr. Threlfall was 77 years old and serving a 9 year, 4 month sentence for Attempted Rape, Buggery, 2 counts of Rape, 4 counts of Acts of Gross Indecency, 2 counts of Indecent Assault of a Female, 2 counts of Indecent Assault of a Male, and 4 counts of Assault Causing Bodily Harm.
As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner are notified. In addition, Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Pacific Institution and the Regional Treatment Centre are co-located in Abbotsford. The facility includes a 20-bed Medical Hospital, 96-bed Psychiatric Hospital, 96-bed Rehabilitation Unit, 127-bed Program Unit and a 127-bed Regional Reception and Assessment Centre.
