FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

INMATE DEATH, MISSION INSTITUTION

Abbotsford, BC, November 10, 2010 - Richard Brian ANDREW, an inmate at Mission Institution, died of apparent natural causes today. He was at an outside hospital following an extended illness.

Mr. Andrew was a 63 year-old second time federal offender serving an indeterminate sentence as a Dangerous Offender for Sexual Assault with a Weapon, Assault and Forcible Confinement. This sentence began in 1981 for Rape and Forcible Confinement convictions that occurred in 1980.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. In addition, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the incident. Next of kin have been notified.

Mission Institution is a medium-security institution located three kilometres north of the city of Mission in the central Fraser Valley, 80 km east of Vancouver.
