FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

INMATE DEATH, FERNDALE INSTITUTION

Mission, BC, February 23, 2011 – David Prince, an inmate from Ferndale Institution, died of apparent natural causes on February 22, 2011.

Mr. Prince was a 54 year-old first-time federal offender serving an Life sentence (25 years to parole eligibility) for First Degree Murder commencing May 30, 1997.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. In addition, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the incident. Next of kin has been notified.

Ferndale Institution is a minimum security institution located three kilometres north of the city of Mission in the central Fraser Valley, 80 km east of Vancouver.
