FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEATH OF INMATE AT MISSION INSTITUTION

Mission, BC, October 11, 2011  – On October 10, 2011, inmate Mirhashem SEYED-FATEMI,  from Mission Institution died of natural causes in the Abbotsford Regional Hospital.

At the time of his death,  Mr. SEYED-FATEMI, aged 61, was serving an indeterminate sentence for Second Degree Murder.  His sentence commenced on May 10, 2001.

Next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. In addition, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
