FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEATH OF INMATE AT THE REGIONAL TREATMENT CENTER (PACIFIC)

Abbotsford, B .C. , December 12, 2011 – On December 10, 2011 , inmate Lothar Hoffman from the Regional Treatment Centre (Pacific) died of apparent natural causes following a lengthy illness.

At the time of his death, Mr. Hoffman , 61 years old , was serving a two year, three month, sentence for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Disqualified. His  sentence had commenced on March 28, 2011.  

Next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. In addition, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
