EDMONTON, AB, March 23, 2004 - At approximately 11:59 p.m. this evening, a minimum security inmate failed to return to the Grierson Centre from a work release. Police were notified. The inmate was last seen at the Centre at 4:30 p.m.
The missing inmate is David Davidson, 31 years old, serving a three year, nine month sentence for robbery, attempted robbery and theft under (X2). His sentence commenced on November 26, 2001. He is 193 cm tall, weighs 127 kilograms and has a fair complexion with blue eyes and blond hair.
Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Davidson is asked to contact police.
The Grierson Centre is a minimum security institution that accommodates 30 inmates. Grierson Centre is part of the Grierson Complex located at 9530 101 Avenue in downtown Edmonton.
Minimum security inmates are those who are rated as low escape risks, low risks to public safety in the event of an escape and have been progressing well with their correctional plans.
This is the first failure to return to the Centre this year. Last year there was one escape.
The Correctional Service of Canada will be conducting a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding this escape.
