FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPE FROM ROCKWOOD INSTITUTION

STONY MOUNTAIN, MB, October 31, 2004 - At approximately 9:10 p.m. yesterday, a minimum security inmate at Rockwood Institution could not be located. A thorough search of the buildings and grounds surrounding the institution was done but failed to find the inmate. Both the RCMP and Winnipeg Police Service have been notified.

The missing inmate, Kevin Hudson, 24-years-old, is serving a two years and six months sentence for break and enter related offences. His sentence commenced Mar 17, 2004. He is 178 cm tall (5' 10"), weighs 73 kg (161 lbs.), and has brown hair and brown eyes. He has multiple tattoos on his arms, shoulders and torso.

The escape will be the focus of a detailed investigation by Correctional Service Canada.

Rockwood Institution is a minimum security federal facility located adjacent to the medium security Stony Mountain Institution, 13 km north of Winnipeg. The institution currently has a population of 78 minimum security inmates.
