FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

INNISFAIL, AB, June 23, 2005 - Approximately 10:30 p.m. last evening, a count of inmates at the minimum security unit at Bowden Institution found one inmate to be missing. An immediate search of the grounds and buildings failed to locate the inmate. The missing inmate was last seen at around 7:30 p.m.

The inmate is currently unlawfully at large and RCMP in Innisfail were immediately notified.

Missing is Gene Moore, 29 years old, serving a two year six month sentence for numerous driving and property related offences. His sentence commenced on August 4, 2004 and was due to expire on February 3rd, 2007. He is 183 cm tall (6'), weighs 68 kg (155 lb) with a fair complexion, full brown hair and green eyes.

This incident will be fully investigated by the Correctional Service of Canada.

This is the first such incident at Bowden Institution this year. The institution had one escape from the minimum security unit last year. Minimum security inmates are those who are rated as low escape risk, low risk to the public in the event of an escape and display progress in dealing with identified problem areas through participation in specific programs.

Bowden Institution is a federal penitentiary located 100 km north of Calgary just off Highway 2, currently accommodating 486 medium security and 60 minimum security inmates.
