FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EDMONTON, AB, August 18, 2005 - At approximately 8:00 pm on Wednesday September 17, 2005, offender Calvin Shoults was found to be missing from the Stan Daniels Healing Centre while staff conducted routine checks. An immediate search of the area failed to locate him and Edmonton Police Services were notified.

Calvin Shoults is a 37-year-old offender, serving an aggregate sentence of sixteen years nine months for armed robbery, robbery (x4), possession of a weapon (x2) use of firearm while committing (x2), disguise with intent (x2) and unlawfully at large. His sentence commenced on November 22, 1991 and was due to expire January 2, 2009. He has a medium complexion, light brown hair and blue eyes. He has numerous tattoos on both his right and left arms. He is 5'7'' (170 cm) tall and weighs approximately 130 lbs (9 kgs). He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a light grey sweatshirt.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of offender Shoults is asked to contact the Edmonton City Police.

The Stan Daniels Healing Center is operated and staffed by Native Counselling Services of Alberta (NCSA) and is located at 9516 - 101 Avenue in downtown Edmonton. NCSA provides a range of spiritual and correctional programs to both offenders on conditional release and minimum security inmates through agreement with the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Canada.

At the time of the incident, there were 30 inmates and 28 conditionally released offenders residing at the Stan Daniels Healing Center.

The Correctional Service of Canada and Native Counselling Services of Alberta will be conducting a joint investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
