HOBBEMA, AB, August 21st, 2005 - At approximately 2330 hours on the 20 of August, 2005, inmates Leo McIntyre and Bernie McGilvery escaped from the Centre. Royal Canadian Mounted Police were notified and warrants for their arrest were issued.
The missing inmates are:
Leo McIntyre is 34 years old, serving 17 years, 11 months for robbery, disguise with intent, escape lawful custody and possession of a prohibited weapon. His sentenced commenced on September 13, 1991. His statutory release was scheduled for June 20, 2007. He weighs 93kg, and is 184 cm tall. He has a fair complexion with blue eyes and brown hair. McIntyre has numerous tattoos on his right arm "Taureau Bras Droit" and on his shoulders "Chinese Symbol" and a tattoo on his back "Dragon Head".
Bernie McGilvery is 27 years old, serving 2 years for property related offenses. His sentence commenced on March 3, 2005. His statutory release date would have been July 9, 2006. He weighs 75 Kg and is 175 cm tall. He has medium complexion with brown eyes and black hair. McGilvery has numerous scars, 4-inch vertical scar on his chest, 5-inch Zig Zag scar on left forearm, "T" and upside down "T" on right forearm, tattoo middle back "Skull/Demon/Lady", tattoo upper back, big skull with 2 smaller ones.
Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of these inmates is asked to contact the police.
Pê Sâkâstêw Centre is a minimum-security facility in Hobbema, Alberta that accommodates 60 inmates.The Centre has had one escape this year and one in 2004.
The Correctional Service of Canada will be conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the escapes.
