STONY MOUNTAIN, MB, December 3, 2005 - At approximately 5 p.m. today, a minimum security inmate at Rockwood Institution could not be located. A thorough search of the buildings and grounds surrounding the institution was done but failed to find the inmate. Both the RCMP and Winnipeg Police Service have been notified.
The missing inmate, Rodney Abraham, 25 years-old, is serving a two year sentence for armed robbery. His sentence commenced January 7, 2005. He is 170 cm tall (5' 7"), weighs 58 kg (128 lbs.), and has black hair and brown eyes. He has several tattoos on both forearms, abdomen and shoulders.
The escape will be the focus of a detailed investigation by the Correctional Service of Canada.
Rockwood Institution is a minimum security federal facility located adjacent to the medium security Stony Mountain Institution, 13 km north of Winnipeg. The institution currently has a population of 77 minimum security inmates.
