FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPE FROM PÊ SÂKÂSTÊW CENTRE

HOBBEMA, AB, July 4, 2006 - At approximately 10:35 p.m. on Monday, July 3, 2006, inmate Levi James Letendre escaped from Pê Sâkâstêw Centre. Police were notified and a warrant for the inmate's arrest was issued.

Letendre is 19 years old, serving 2 years 7 months for break, enter and commit; possession of property obtained by crime; attempted ind. offence; mischief; and an offence under Provincial statues. His sentence commenced March 20, 2006. His warrant expiry date is October 19, 2008. Letendre weighs 152 pounds, and is five feet, four inches tall. He has a fair complexion with brown eyes and brown hair.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Letendre is asked to contact police.

The Correctional Service of Canada will be conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the escape.

Pê Sâkâstêw Centre is a minimum-security facility in Hobbema, Alberta that accommodates 60 inmates.
