FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPE FROM RIVERBEND INSTITUTION

PRINCE ALBERT, SK, August 20, 2006 - At approximately 10:00 p.m. today, a count of inmates at Riverbend Institution revealed three inmates to be missing. An immediate search of the facility and grounds was conducted but failed to locate the inmates. Both RCMP and City Police were notified. The inmates were last seen during the institution's 8:00 p.m. formal count this evening.

The missing inmates are Craig Holowaychuk, 23 years old, serving a eight year, six month sentence for a variety of offences including possession of property obtained by crime, break and enter with intent, break and enter commit. His sentence commenced on March 5, 2002 and was due to expire on September 4, 2010. His statutory release date is January 23, 2008. He is 180 cm (5'11") tall and weighs 79 kg (175 lbs). He has a fair complexion, hazel eyes and brown hair.

Cody WAPASS, 21 years old, serving a three year sentence for robbery with violence and fail to attend court. His sentence commenced on March 1, 2005 and was due to expire on February 29, 2008. His statutory release date is March 1, 2007. He is 180 cm (5'11") tall and weighs 84 kg (186 lbs). He has a medium complexion, brown eyes and black hair.

Terry Wruth, 22 years old, serving a two year two month sentence for a variety of offences including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle-CBH, fail to stop at accident, possession schedule III substance and possession of property obtained by crime. His sentence commenced on April 13, 2006 and was due to expire on June 12, 2008. His statutory release date is September 23, 2007. He is 180 cm (5'11") tall and weighs 78 kg (172 lbs). He has a fair complexion, brown eyes and brown hair.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of the above offenders is asked to contact their local police agency.

Riverbend Institution is a minimum security institution that accommodates 126 inmates. There have been no prior escapes from this facility this fiscal year (April 1 to March 31). Last year there were no escapes.

Minimum security offenders are those who are rated as low escape risks, low risk to the public in the event of an escape and display progress in dealing with identified problem areas through correctional plan participation.

The Correctional Service Canada will be conducting a complete investigation surrounding circumstances of this escape.
