FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

INMATE ESCAPES FROM PÊ SÂKÂSTÊW CENTRE

HOBBEMA, AB, September 12, 2006 - At approximately 10:35 p.m. on Monday, September 11, 2006, inmate Christopher Schellenberg escaped from Pê Sâkâstêw Centre. Police were notified and a warrant for the inmate's arrest was issued.

SCHELLENBERG is 22 year old, serving a 4 year sentence for offences including theft over $5000, break and enter, careless use of firearm, operate a motor vehicle while disqualified, and, fail to comply with probation order.

Schellenberg weighs 141 pounds and is five feet, five inches tall. He has an olive complexion with brown eyes and short black hair.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Schellenberg is asked to contact police.

The Correctional Service of Canada will be conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the escape.

Pê Sâkâstêw Centre is a minimum-security facility in Hobbema, Alberta that accommodates 60 inmates.
