FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPE FROM DRUMHELLER INSTITUTION

Drumheller, AB, September 25, 2006 - At approximately 7:15 p.m. on Sunday, September 24, 2006 it was discovered that an inmate was missing from the Minimum Security Unit at Drumheller Institution. An immediate search of the facility and grounds was conducted but failed to locate the inmate. The RCMP was notified.

The missing inmate is Bradley Vestby, 27 years old, who is serving a nine-year, ten-month, twenty-five-day sentence for offences including assault, extortion, robbery, theft, break and enter and being unlawfully at large. His sentence commenced on May 11, 2001 and expires on August 29, 2011. He is 175 cm (5'9") tall and weighs 77 kg (170 lbs). He has a fair complexion, brown eyes and brown hair.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of the above offender is asked to contact their local police.

The Drumheller Minimum Security Unit is a unit of the Drumheller Institution and accommodates 72 inmates. This has been the first escape from this facility this fiscal year (April 1 to March 31). Last year there were no escapes.

Minimum security offenders are those who have been assessed as presenting a low escape risk, low risk to the public in the event of an escape and who display progress in dealing with identified problem areas through correctional plan participation.

The Correctional Service of Canada will be conducting a complete investigation surrounding the circumstances of this escape.
