HOBBEMA, AB, March 4, 2007 - At approximately 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2007, inmate Wesley Floyd John escaped while on an escorted temporary absence from Pê Sâkâstêw Centre. Police were notified and a warrant for the inmate's arrest was issued.
John is 41 years old, serving 4 years 3 months 15 days for the following offences: possession of property obtained by crime - over (x4); fail to attend court (x2); break enter & commit (x4); possession property obtained by crime - under (x2); obstruct public/peace officer; fail to comply (x2) drive more 80 mgs offence under highway traffic act (x2).
His sentence commenced March 18, 2004. His eligibility dates are as follows: day parole: 2006-10-10; full parole: 2007-04-10; statutory release: 2007-10-25 and warrant expiry: 2008-07-06.
John weighs 220 pounds, and is six feet, one inch tall. He has a medium complexion with brown eyes and black hair.
Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of John is asked to contact police.
The Correctional Service of Canada will be conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the escape.
Pê Sâkâstêw Centre is a minimum-security facility in Hobbema, Alberta that accommodates 60 inmates.
