FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPE FROM STAN DANIELS HEALING CENTER

Edmonton, AB, July 23, 2007 - At approximately 2150 during a scheduled count at the Stan Daniels Healing Center, it was determined that offender Rodney Reimer could not be found in the building.

Rodney Reimer is a 34-year old offender serving his first federal sentence of two years three months. He is of fair complexion, brown eyes and brown hair. He is 187 cm. tall and weighs 77 kgs. His date of birth is December 13, 1972.

The Stan Daniels Healing Center will be working closely with the Edmonton Police Service to apprehend this offender. Anyone with information regarding offender Reimer is asked to contact the Edmonton City Police.

The Stan Daniels Healing Center is operated by Native Counselling Services of Alberta and is located at 9516 101 Avenue in downtown Edmonton. Native Counselling Services of Alberta provides a range of spiritual and correctional programs to both offenders on conditional release and minimum security inmates through agreement with the federal Minister of Public Safety.

At the time of the incident there were 19 inmates and 35 conditionally released offenders residing at the Stan Daniels Healing Center.

This incident will be closely reviewed by the Correctional Service of Canada and Native Counselling Services of Alberta.
