FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPE FROM STAN DANIELS HEALING CENTER

EDMONTON, AB, July 7, 2008 - At approximately 11:00 p.m., offender Wesley John escaped from the Stan Daniels Healing Center. The Edmonton City Police were notified and warrants have been issued.

Wesley John is a 42-year old man serving a six-year three-month fifteen-day sentence for property offences, driving offences, failure to comply with conditions of recognizance and obstruct public Police Officer.

Wesley has a medium complexion, black hair and brown eyes. He stands 185 cm (6'1") tall and weighs 98 kg (217 lbs.)

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Offender John is asked to contact Edmonton City Police at (add telephone number)

The Stan Daniels Healing Center is operated and staffed by Native Counselling Services of Alberta (NCSA), located at 9516 101 Avenue in Edmonton. NCSA provides a range of spiritual and correctional programs to both offenders on conditional release and minimum security inmates via sections 81 and 84 through agreement with the Minister of Public Safety under the Corrections and Conditional Release Act.

At the time of the incident there were 31 inmates and 28 conditionally released offenders residing at the Stan Daniels Healing Center.

The Correctional Service of Canada and NCSA will be conducting a joint review of the circumstances surrounding the incident.
