ESCAPE FROM OCHICHAKKOSIPI HEALING LODGE

CRANE RIVER, MB, August 28, 2008 - At approximately 2 p.m. on August 28, it was determined by Ochichakkosipi Healing Lodge staff that inmate Edward Snowshoe could not be located in the lodge or the surrounding grounds.

Edward Christopher Snowshoe is a 22-year old federal offender serving a five year one month sentence for robbery, use of a firearm and property offences. He is 173 cm (5' 8" tall) and weighs 77kg (170 lbs) and has black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Edward Snowshoe is asked to contact their local police detachment.

Police have been contacted.

Ochichakkosipi Healing Lodge is operated by the Crane River First Nation under an agreement with the federal Minister of Public Safety. The healing lodge provides a range of spiritual and cultural programs to minimum security federal inmates and is located on the Crane River First Nation 350 km northwest of Winnipeg.

This escape will be reviewed by the Correctional Service of Canada and Ochichakkosipi Healing Lodge.
