REGIONAL PSYCHIATRIC CENTRE, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan - On Tuesday March 24, 2009 patients on the Bow Unit of the Regional Psychiatric Centre were placed under lockdown status.
The lockdown on the Bow Unit was put in place in order to facilitate a Section 53 Search that will take place on Wednesday March 25, 2009. The search of the Bow Unit will ensure the continued safety and security of the public, staff and inmates.
The Bow Unit will reopen once institutional management determines that it is safe to do so.
The Regional Psychiatric Centre is a multi-level psychiatric hospital located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and operated by the Correctional Service of Canada through an affiliation agreement between Canada and the University of Saskatchewan. The Centre provides assessment, intensive programming, treatment for mental disorders, and 24-hour medical care to individuals from the federal and provincial justice systems. There are currently 190 patients receiving assessment and/or treatment at the Centre.
