CORRECTIONAL SERVICE OF CANADA CHANGE OF COMMAND CEREMONY

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) Prairie Region has a new Regional Deputy Commissioner.

Ms. Brenda LePage was formally installed as Regional Deputy Commissioner in a ceremony in Saskatoon today.

"I am very pleased to welcome Ms. LePage to her new role as Regional Deputy Commissioner," said Don Head, Commissioner of Correctional Service Canada who presided over the ceremony. "Ms. LePage has served with distinction for 25 years across Canada and I am pleased to welcome her back to her home province and to her new office."

Ms. LePage succeeds Acting Regional Deputy Commissioner Paul Urmson.

Change of command ceremonies are a formal, symbolic passing of responsibility, authority and accountability of command from one leader to another. Today’s ceremony is the first Regional Deputy Commissioner change of command ceremony held in Canada since the revival of the tradition earlier this year.

Correctional Service Canada is the federal government agency responsible for administering sentences of a term of two years or more, as imposed by the courts. CSC is responsible for managing institutions of various security levels and supervising offenders under conditional release in the community.
