FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPE FROM STAN DANIELS HEALING CENTRE

EDMONTON, AB – July 24, 2009 - At approximately 14:45 on Friday, July 24, 2009 inmate Gregory MARSHALL escaped from Stan Daniels Healing Centre. Staff conducted a search of the entire facility and the grounds, but MARSHALL could not be found. Edmonton City Police have been notified and warrants have been issued.

MARSHALL is a 32-year-old Caucasian male offender serving his 3rd Federal Sentence of 61 months for the offences of Robbery (X4). Date sentenced commenced is Feb. 8, 2008.

MARSHALL has a fair complexion, short brown hair, and blue eyes. He stands 180 cm (6') tall and weighs 73 kg (160 lbs).

He has numerous tattoos on his body and scars on his left calf, left forearm, right hand and right wrist.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of MARSHALL is asked to contact the Edmonton Police Service.

The Stan Daniels Healing Centre is operated and staffed by Native Counselling Services of Alberta (NCSA) and is located at 9516 101 Avenue in downtown Edmonton. NCSA provides a range of spiritual and correctional programs to offenders on conditional release and minimum security inmates via sections 81 and 84 of the Corrections and Conditional Release Act through an agreement with the Minister of Public Safety.

At the time of the incident, there were 48 male offenders residing at Stan Daniels Healing Centre.

The Correctional Service of Canada and NCSA will be conducting a joint investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
