Crane River, Manitoba, August 21, 2008 – At approximately 11 p.m. on August 20, it was determined by Ochichakkosipi Healing Lodge staff that inmates Edward BERNARD, Allan STONECHILD and Nelson KAHNAPACE could not be located in the lodge or the surrounding grounds.
Edward BERNARD is a 50-year-old federal offender serving an indeterminate sentence for Second Degree Murder. He is 180 cm (5’ 11”) tall and weighs 85 kgs (188 lbs) and has black hair and brown eyes.
Allan STONECHILD is a 58-year-old federal offender serving an indeterminate sentence for Second Degree Murder. He is 185 cm (6’ 1”) tall and weighs 116 kgs (256 lbs) and has black hair and brown eyes.
Nelson KAHNAPACE is a 31-year-old federal offender serving a nine year sentence for Escape Lawful Custody, Aggravated Assault, Break and Enter and Robbery. He is 175 cm (5’ 9”) tall and weighs 80kgs (177 lbs) and has brown hair and hazel eyes.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Edward BERNARD, Allan STONECHILD or Nelson KAHNAPACE is asked to contact their local police detachment.
Police have been contacted by the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) regarding the escape.
Ochichakkosipi Healing Lodge is operated by the Crane River First Nation under an agreement with the federal Minister of Public Safety. The healing lodge provides a range of spiritual and cultural programs to minimum security federal inmates and is located on the Crane River First Nation 350 km northwest of Winnipeg.
This escape will be reviewed by CSC and the Ochichakkosipi Healing Lodge.
