FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPE FROM BOWDEN INSTITUTION ANNEX

Innisfail, Alberta (August 28, 2009) – At approximately 11:00 p.m. on August 27, 2009, staff determined that Damien Justin Swords had escaped from the Bowden Institution Annex, a minimum-security facility adjacent to Bowden Institution.

Staff conducted a search of the facility and surrounding property. Police were notified.

Damien Justin Swords is a 42-year-old offender serving a two-year six-month sentence for an Offence Under the Motor Vehicle Act - Alberta, Possession of Propery Obtained by Crime, Operate a Motor Vehicle While Disqualified.

He is 178 cm (5’10”) tall and weighs 86 kgs (190 lbs). He has black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Damien Justin Swords is asked to contact their local police.

The Correctional Service of Canada is committed to working with our local law enforcement agencies and will review the circumstances surrounding the escape and take all necessary measures.

Bowden Institution is a federal institution in Bowden, Alberta with a current population of 564 medium security inmates, 71 minimum security inmates.
