LOCKDOWN AT GRANDE CACHE INSTITUTION

Grande Cache, Alberta, September 13, 2009 – Grande Cache Institution is locked down to facilitate a search of the institution.

The search began about 9:20 p.m. on September 12.

The lockdown and search are being conducted to ensure the continued safety of the public, staff and inmates.

The institution will remain on lockdown status until institutional managers determines it is safe to return to normal routine.

Grande Cache Institution is a federal penitentiary located in Grande Cache Alberta. Current institutional population is 217 medium security male inmates.
