Bowden, Alberta, September 17, 2009 - As part of the Correctional Service of Canada's (CSC) 30th anniversary celebrations, CSC is placing a renewed focus on pride and tradition, including the reintroduction of the Change of Command Ceremony which allows staff to witness the passing of responsibility from one leader to another.
A Change of Command Ceremony will take place on September 17, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at Bowden Institution. This occasion will mark the change in command from the outgoing Warden Floyd Wilson to the incoming Warden Dave Pelham.
This ceremony highlights the importance of being the leader of an institution and that there are responsibilities associated with taking on the role of warden. It is an opportunity to celebrate CSC's traditions and reaffirms the incoming leader's commitment to enhancing public safety results for Canadians.

Bowden Institution was originally built as a provincial correctional facility.
The institution was acquired by Correctional Service Canada in 1974.
There are currently about 400 staff at the Institution.
As of September 16, 2009 Bowden Institution accommodated 571 medium security male inmates and 70 minimum security male inmates.
