FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Escape from Stan Daniels Healing Centre

Edmonton, AB, March 25, 2010 – At approximately 11:05 a.m. on Thursday March 25, 2010, offender Dean LYZANIUK escaped from the Stan Daniels Healing Centre in Edmonton, AB. Edmonton Police Services have been notified.

LYZANIUK is a 43-year old federal offender serving a 2-year, 2-month, 30-day sentence for Theft of Credit Card (x3), Criminal Harassment, Fraud Under, Break Enter and Commit - Theft Under, and Offence Under Provincial Statutes (x2). His sentence commenced on July 22, 2009.

LYZANIUK has a fair complexion, short brown hair and blue eyes. He stands 175 cm (5’9”) tall and weighs 75 kg (166 lbs).

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of LYZANIUK is asked to contact the Edmonton Police Service.

The Stan Daniels Healing Center is operated and staffed by Native Counseling Services of Alberta (NCSA) and is located in Edmonton, AB. NCSA provides a range of spiritual and correctional programs to both offenders on conditional release and minimum security inmates via sections 81 and 84 of the Corrections and Conditional Release Act through an agreement with the Minister of Public Safety.

At the time of the incident, there were 36 offenders residing at the Stan Daniels Healing Center.

The Correctional Service of Canada and Native Counseling Services of Alberta will be conducting a joint investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and are working with the Edmonton Police Service to locate the offender.
