AWARD PRESENTATION TO HONOUR LOCAL VOLUNTEER

SPRINGBROOK, ALBERTA, APRIL 22, 2010 – The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) and the National Volunteer Association (NVA) will present the 2009 Taylor Award during a ceremony to be held at the Harvard Park Business Centre in Springbrook, Alberta on Friday, April 23, 2010.

The presentation ceremony will begin at approximately 7:30 p.m. Member of Parliament Earl Dreeshen will present the award on behalf of the Honourable Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety. CSC’s Assistant Commissioner, Public Affairs and Parliamentary Relations, Elizabeth Van Allen, Regional Deputy Commissioner, Prairie Region, Brenda Le Page and National Chair of the NVA, Bill Huzar, will be in attendance.

The Taylor Award was created by CSC and the NVA in 2001 to recognize outstanding CSC volunteers who make a significant contribution to federal correctional services in Canada. Volunteers, working together with CSC staff, are a vital part of enhancing public safety and helping to build a better future for Canadians.
